After much preperation the JV Boys played their first game of the year against Easley Christian. For a few minutes the game looked like it was going great and we were playing very well up 6-0 in the first minute. But it turned ugly fast when EHE started missing layups and dropping passes. At the end of the first quarter Easley Christian had worked its way into an 8-5 ball-game. After a fiery first quarter speech Coach Whiteside had the Guardians ready to strike. The always reliable Diamond Press brought us many layups from Will, Mo, and Caleb. The new big man in our lineup this year (Matthew Harms) played well down low scoring in the second quarter on a layup. Peter Howard had 3 fouls in the first half forcing Mark Dibler to jump in and play point guard. With time winding down in the first half I received a long pass from Anthony, but my unawareness of how much time was on the clock made the buzzer beater a second too late failing to count. At halftime our lead was 20-7 meaning we outscored Easley Christian 14-2 in the second quarter. Early in the second half Easley Christian started lighting it up from behind the three point line and pulled within 11, but that was as far as they would get. The second half was capped off by great defense by Elliot and PC, and with an excellent pass from Kai to JC for a layup. The game ended 37-22 in favor of the Guardians. The game wasnt the best weve played but we pulled out the win. Our next game is November 18th against Tabernacle.
